St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Since the early 1970s Tri Delta’s chosen philanthropy has been Children’s Cancer Charities. This philanthropic cause encompasses a wide array of charitable organizations and represents the collective effort of Tri Delta’s members and chapters across the United States and Canada who continue to donate goods, volunteer time and host fundraisers for the research and treatment of children with cancer.
In 1999, Tri Delta formed a national philanthropic partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This partnership provides our members with wonderful opportunities to grow as individuals and leaders as we help children LIVE, scientists LEARN, and St. Jude LEAD in its mission of finding cures for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
In July 2014, Tri Delta made the largest single fundraising commitment of $60 million in 10 years — the single largest fundraising commitment in St. Jude’s history, and received prominent recognition by having the short-term housing facility named Tri Delta Place.
A combined effort of our collegiate and alumnae chapters, along with the unselfish leadership of each individual member and our extensive network of family and friends, makes Tri Delta ranked as one of St. Jude’s top corporate partners alongside for-profit industry leaders like Target, Best Buy, Chili’s, FedEx and Domino’s.
Since its founding in 1962, St. Jude Children’s Research hospital has been the world leader in advancing the treatment and prevention of catastrophic diseases in children. In order to achieve founder, Danny Thomas’ vision of “no child should die in the dawn of life”, St. Jude holds a strong set of ethical values, never denying a child treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay. Over the past 50 years, treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent. St. Jude is primarily funded through partners in the community, like Tri Delta and we feel so blessed to be an integral part of such an amazing cause.
